Williams moves up and down Interstate 71, soliciting for donations. He holds a sign saying that he has a “god-given gift.” The sign also details his former profession.
Williams received a second chance after a video of him speaking went viral on the Internet. Williams has a “golden voice” that is perfect for announcing. Williams has since got a cell phone, where many have called him congratulating him.
He plans to visit his mother in Brooklyn, New York. He told the Early Show that he has not seen her for a long time. 53-year-old Williams had become immersed in drugs and alcohol, thus derailing his career in announcing. His mother is 92-years-old.
Williams also states that this is the year that he found God. He states that he is now more appreciative of life and thanking the Lord every day. While homeless, he stated that sometimes he made 25 cents an hour and sometimes he made $25 an hour with his voice talent.
Williams has received a number of job offers in Columbus, Ohio including a post by by the Cleveland Cavaliers to be an announcer at the Quicken Loans Arena.
