Isabel Montes Lopes died at 42nd and L Streets after the Toyota Camry she was riding in was hit by a pickup truck up. It happened at 3:18 p.m.
According to a news release from police, "The initial investigation determined that the Toyota was traveling east on L Street when the driver attempted to turn north on to 42nd Street. The vehicle was struck by the Ford F250 which was going west on L Street. After the initial collision, the Toyota struck the Chrysler that was stopped in the south bound lane on 42nd Street."
The driver of the Toyota, Andrew R Kam, suffered critical but non-life threatening injuries. Medics transported Kam to Creighton University Medical Center.
The drivers of the pickup trucks suffered minor injuries.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.
