Peggy Rea dead at 89. Peggy Rea die, death, died. Character actress Peggy Rea died on Saturday of complications from congestive heart failure in Toluca Lake, California. She was 89.
Rea, whose career in television spanned more than five decades, was best known for her portrayal in “Grace Under Fire” as Brett Butler’s mother-in-law. She also appeared in several other TV shows, such as “The Dukes of Hazard,” “The Waltons,” “Step By Step,” and “All in the Family.”
Her movie creds include “Strange Bedfellows,” “7 Faces of Dr. Lao,” “Love Field,” “Devil In A Blue Dress,” “In Country” and “Grumpy Old Men.”
Her funeral is scheduled for February 28 at the Santa Barbara Cemetery.
