Jeffrey Earnhardt Impresses at Daytona, NextEra Energy Resources 250. Jeffrey Earnhardt was impressive today at Daytona. Jeffrey Earnhardt, son of Kerry Earnhardt, had a stellar start at NASCAR’s Camping World Truck Series at Daytona, finishing seventh in Friday’s NextEra Energy Resources 250.

Jeffrey Earnhardt’s seventh place finish was the his career best to date in six starts. Team owner Rick Ware told news this week, Jeffrey Earnhardt is determined to earn the Rookie-of-The-Year title.

But does he have a chance?

Earnhardt is in Ware’s No. 1 Fuel Doctor Chevrolet. Ware told news this week that Earnhardt has both the talent and the determination to win the Rookie title. But Ware estimates that there are at least six other drivers who have a chance for that title as well.

Who are they? One report claims Earnhardt’s top competition includes Johanna Long of Pensacola, Miguel Paludo, former Formula 1 driver Nelson Piquet Jr., Dusty Davis, Joey Coulter, and Craig Goess.

Today, Earnhardt finished behind Michael Waltrip, Elliot Sadler, and Clay Rogers. This was Clay Rogers’ best start of his career. Fellow rookie Paludo finished fourth followed by Kyle Busch.

Ware says Earnhardt is obviously under pressure. “We certainly can’t shield him from this pressure, but we are taking measures to focus his mind on the important tasks at hand.”
