George Beverly Shea, Billy Graham Soloist, Gets Lifetime Achievement. George Beverly Shea, the well-known singer from the Billy Graham Crusades, is to be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Grammys next month. He will be 102 years old, and this is actually his second Grammy. He won Best Gospel Recording in 1965.

The gospel singer actually started with Bill Graham before the Crusades, singing on Graham’s radio show “Songs in the Night” when Graham took it over as the pastor of the Village Church. You might say the two started their public ministry together, as that radio show was the launch of Graham’s career as an evangelical minister that has preached to millions via radio and TV. According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Shea is still performing concerts, as recently as this past Christmas. At 101 years old, that is quite an achievement! Shea is married to his second wife, Karlene Aceto, and was born in Ontario, Canada.
